Sandra
I’m Sandra, co-founder of Tanzania Safari Bug. I moved to Tanzania in 2014 for love and work! With a business management degree from the University of Potsdam, Germany, my journey in Tanzania began with a deep fascination for its diverse landscapes and cultures. I honed my skills in tourism sales and marketing, creating personalized safari adventures. I love planning, chatting with guests throughout, and staying in touch long after their trips. Our passion shines through in every adventure we create, ensuring that your unique travel interests are fully realized.
Our Story
It all started with our founders, Michael and Sandra, who spent a large part of their younger years traveling through Tanzania together. Michael, a seasoned safari guide brimming with love for wildlife, crossed paths with Sandra, a spirited sales executive with an insatiable wanderlust. Their shared adventures through Tanzania’s breathtaking landscapes ignited a deep passion for its beauty and conservation.
Michael and Sandra met in 2012 during a work trip scouting routes and accommodations in Tanzania. Michael was one of the guides, and their connection was immediate. By the end of 2014, Sandra moved to Tanzania, and together, they founded Tanzania Safari Bug—a family-owned business embodying the irresistible “safari bug,” a yearning for exploration and connection to nature. As the saying goes: “Everything in Africa bites, but the safari bug is the worst of all”!
Their vision is to ensure each journey leaves a positive impact, preserving Tanzania’s ecosystems and empowering local communities. They aim to safeguard the country’s rich heritage for future generations, fostering respect for traditions and sustaining its vibrant stories for all to experience.
Michael and Sandra have two children who are fluent in English, German, and Kiswahili, and are passionate about nature. Their oldest has a growing interest in photography, while both children love elephants and zebras and enjoy being outdoors. As a family, their favorite activity is exploring off-the-beaten-path locations in Tanzania, a country with endless treasures yet to be discovered.
